Pack Family Trip - USS Lexington! (1/26/13)

posted Nov 4, 2012, 7:59 AM by Pack Admin

Dear Parent,

Starting at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 26 and ending at 9:00am on Sunday January 27, Pack 937 will be touring and staying over on the USS Lexington. The Lexington was commissioned in 1942 and saw extensive action in the Pacific theatre during World War II. This is a unique opportunity for Scouts and their parents to experience first-hand the workings of a modern aircraft carrier and to learn about its historic contribution to ending the war in the Pacific, amongst other assignments in the post-war era. We hope you can join us.

We need a headcount and payment for all parents and Scouts who will be attending the overnight camping trip aboard the USS Lexington no later than Sunday, November 25 . Cost is $49/person.

Attached is a PDF with the details or you can learn more about this experience at www.usslexington.com

Please reply to Scott Uhl with confirmation and headcount in your party. His e-mail is suhl@ewirisk.com or he can be reached at 817.488.0991 or on his cell at 972.896.9695.  Scott will make arrangement to collect payment once you have let him know that you intend to attend. More logistical information will follow in early January.

Thank you and regards,

Scott

2012 marks the 55th year for Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA) so come be a part of it all at the National Scouting Museum! JOTA is a World Scouting event that bridges Scouts all over the world via amateur radio. Numerous amateur radio stations will be set up throughout the Museum, allowing for both local and global communication by various modes. There will also be many other fun and educational activities; such as hidden transmitter hunts, electronic project assembly, solar telescopes, demonstrations of satellite communications, and much more throughout the day!

Here's a link to the BSA website with more information: http://bsamuseum.org/Programs/JOTA%202012.aspx

This isn't an official Pack event, however if you're looking for a fun activity on Saturday (10/20), this looks like a great one!

August 29th - Final Pack Summertime Event!

posted Aug 21, 2012, 3:34 PM by Pack Admin

Parents,

We’ll be having our last Pack “summertime” event Wednesday, August 29th from 4-7pm at Summit Rock Climbing Gym in Grapevine.  We thought it would be an awesome way to start both the school year and Cubscout activities by having the event during the 1st week of school, which is ½ days.  If your scout brings a friend who is interested in joining, both boys fees are waived.  Please print, fill out, and bring the waiver, especially if there is a child without a parent or guardian in attendance.   If you want a great way to beat the heat, please come climb with the Pack!

Location: Summit Climbing Gym is located at 1040 Mustang Drive, Grapevine (www.summitrockgym.com/)

Date/Time: Wednesday, August 29th, 4-7pm

Cost: $15/climber (please pay at the event and make checks payable to "Pack 937") Free for child interested in scouting and scout that brings him.

If you haven't tried climbing at Summit, this is a great opportunity to rock climb in a safe, air conditioned environment. It really is a lot of fun!

Please let us know if you plan to attend - we'll have pizza and refreshments at the event and want to make sure we have enough for everyone.

Thanks,

Marty Page

Pack 937 Parents,

Attached is a flyer containing all the information on the upcoming Spring Family Campout. Please take a moment to read all about it and email Paige Kester (paigekester@yahoo.com) with details on how many from your family will be attending. We've got a great location that's close, has "non-primitive restrooms", and provides lots of space for us to relax, explore, and have a great camping experience.

Thanks and I hope to see everyone there,

Pack Night at Brahmas Hockey - 3/9 7:30pm

posted Feb 28, 2012, 5:27 PM by Pack Admin

Pack 937 Parents,

Thanks to Marty Page graciously offering to coordinate the event, Pack 937 has arranged to get discounted tickets to see a Texas Brahmas hockey game! The event is Friday, March 9th at 7:30pm, and will be played at NYTEX Sports Centre right down in North Richland Hills (about 15-20min driving time) (a flyer with all the details is attached). We did this event last year and everyone really had a blast.

The tickets are only $8 apiece (regularly $13) and the cutoff for the ticket purchase is 3/7. If you're interested in attending, please contact Marty directly (email: marty.cynthia@verizon.net or phone 817-455-4735).

Thanks,

Sean

PS - Although it's a Friday night hockey game, given that we're going as a Pack, we'll need to observe the Pack's no-alcohol policy at this event.
